If your girls want to get a tough spirit with BJJ, it can get frustrating at finding the best women’s bjj rash guards.

Although many more women are getting more involved in BJJ, most of the BJJ rash guards and BJJ Gi are made for men.

What is the problem?

Women are not built like men, your chest and hips are more extensive, and your shoulders are narrower. It is not surprising you might come into a lot of trouble when you are trying to choose the perfect rash guard that fits you.

Best Women's BJJ Rash Guards: 5 Excellent Products & All Things To Know

Why Do You Need A Rash Guard?

The women’s rash guard is primarily worn underneath your women’s BJJ Gi.

Using a rash guard is crucial for competing and training in BJJ, especially as a woman.

A rash guard does not let you worry about being covered in sweat or expose body parts you’d rather not show.

Rash guards don’t only help you keep everything together when you’re grappling or training, especially for girls and women:

  1. The most importantly, rash guards prevent you from getting those painful mat burns.
  2. Antimicrobial infections
  3. Controlling moisture.

Many gyms make it necessary to wear a rash guard.

So as a woman, it is advisable, you own a good rash guard for women, especially if you train often.

➢ Preventing Injuries

Rash guards don’t only make us look attractive and formidable when we fight; the rash guard compresses our muscles; this helps prevent injury and increase our muscle recovery rate.

The rash guard guards your upper body, which has soft tissues that could tear during intense sparring.

Research has also determined that wearing a rash guard helps with the healing process after heavy training.

➢ Antimicrobial Infections

They protect your skin from antimicrobial infections that can be transferred from one person to another.

➢ Controlling Moisture

Best women’s BJJ rash guards are produced with materials that absorb your sweat.

When you use just a BJJ Gi or even MMA training session, after many rolls, you will sweat more, and the sweat eventually gets to your hands.

Using a sweaty hand to roll will affect your grip and can give your opponent an advantage.

A good rash guard will absorb your sweat and keep you dry even during intense training.

What Should I Look For When I Want To Buy A BJJ Rash guard For Women?

Before you buy a rash guard, especially, if you are a girl or woman, there are many factors you should consider before choosing the ideal one.

Although it may be complicated to find a rash guard for just BJJ since a lot of surfing companies make a lot of them.

Using a surfing rash guard may be uncomfortable since they are designed to retain heat.

It’s the reason why although some people go for surfing rash guards since they work just as well and may be cheaper, in the long run, I recommend using a women’s BJJ rash guard.

I have compiled a list of the main things you should look out for before purchasing your bjj rash guard.

  1. Thickness
  2. Stitching
  3. Brand
  4. Sleeves
  5. Style

#1 - Thickness

If your main goal is losing weight during training, then you should get a thick rash guard. Most rash guards that are solely for surfing or outdoor use will be thicker than the regular rash guards.

However, if the sole reason for your bjj rash guard is protecting your body from injuries and mat burns and don’t mind a lot of sweat, I recommend you get a lighter rash guard.

#2 - Stitching

During training, the right rash guard gets most of the tension, so it is crucial to have a rash guard with good stitching that won’t tear or rip open during intense training.

I recommend looking for flatlock stitching with about four or five threads. A good flatlock stitching is durable and won’t rip at the seam during grappling.

#3 - Brand

If you are choosing a women’s rash guard, the brand you choose is an essential factor to look out for.

Some brands produce rash guards solely for women, while other brands produce BJJ rash guards that suit both men and women.

If you don’t find a unisex brand that suits you, you should find a BJJ rash guard for women that make you comfortable.

The different brands of rash guards vary in price, thickness, length, and design.

Although more popular brands may be more pricey, they are often more durable than the regular rash guards.

#4 - Sleeves

The lengths of your sleeves affect your overall performance on the mat. Although some people prefer short sleeves, I recommend getting a long sleeve rash guard.

The long sleeve gives extra protection against bacterial infections, mat burns, and irritation.

However, if you are going for a unisex Gi, ensure the sleeves are not too long because they could get in your way and act as a disadvantage when you are on the mat.

Shorter sleeves keep you cooler during hot weather, and if you are shorter, could be more comfortable and fit you better.

Ensure you choose whichever sleeve you are more comfortable training with.

#5 - Style

The design and style attract many people’s attention when you are looking to buy a BJJ rash guard for women or girls, but if you are a seasoned professional, the best-designed rash guard may not be the best rash guard available.

Before you choose the flashy design, if you are going to be competing, ensure your rash guard is in line with the rules and instructions of the competition. Using a rash guard that does not comply with the laws can cause disqualification.

Another crucial factor to look out for is the logo and design of the brand. Designs that have been screen printed may pee off either during washing or heavy sparring.

I recommend you get a design that has been digitally designed on the rash guard and won’t peel off, so it doesn’t ruin your equipment in the long run.

Tips:

If you can afford it, I recommend you try them all out and choose the one you like best.

OK. Who is the winner of best women's BJJ rash guards?

All the rash guards I listed above are impressive, and each of them is worth your money. But if I must choose my winner, it might be the Fuji Baseline Ranked Jiu-Jitsu Rashguard.

The reason is:

  • The rash guard is strictly for women; it is not too loose in the shoulders, the sleeves are long enough, and fits most women perfectly.
  • The Fuji rash guard is tight enough on the hips. For a woman, this is very important because when you are training, you wouldn’t want to feel like the material is leaving your body.

That is why the Fuji Baseline Ranked Jiu-Jitsu Rashguard is the top pick for me.

However, when you find a rash guard that fits you and you are comfortable wearing, as long as it does not tear during training and suits your thickness and style, you should choose it.

Question & Answers

Not all rash guards are equal.

Each of them has different qualities, so as a woman, it can be a little confusing choosing the ideal one for you.

However, if you can follow the directions and tips in my article, it should not only ease the pressure of finding one but guide you into getting your perfect rash guard.

Question 1: Will the BJJ rash guards I buy tear?

Answers:

Although durability among different rash guards varies, most rash guards are made with a material that is stretchable and durable.

A good rash guard should not rip open when you are on the mat.

Question 2: Will getting the best women's BJJ rash guards help me prevent mat burn?

Answers:

Yes, a good rash guard will help you prevent painful mat burns.

You have mat burns because your bare skin hits the mat too hard when you train.

The friction between the bare skin and the mat causes a painful stinging feeling and sometimes, injury.

A good rash guard for BJJ covers the exposed part of your skin and protects it from mat burns.

Although not all parts of the body are covered, like the hands and the legs, the rash guard protects delicate areas of your body like your bust, chest, back, and neck.

I am a quick learner and always hungry to learn new skills. I became a provincial and Pan American jiu-jitsu champion, a national kickboxing champion and by the age of 19, he held three amateur belts in MMA. Rash guards are perfectly designed for the players.
